During the first years of the Spanish Conquest, Michoacán was part of the “kingdom of Mexico” which included the current states of Mexico, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Oaxaca, Morelos, Guerrero, Veracruz, Tabasco, Michoacán, Guanajuato and parts of San Luis PotosÃ, Jalisco and Colima. These lands were divided into encomiendas among the conquistadors. Vasco de Quiroga brought Franciscan and Augustinian friars to both evangelize and repair the area’s broken economy and social institutions. Quiroga founded the Spanish city of Patzcuaro in 1538, calling it the Ciudad de Mechuacán.
As you can see in the above paragraph, records many exist as early as the 1530’s. The Catholic church records begin in 1555.

Hi My Grandfather mother and father are from Tlazazalca Mexico, he passed when my mother was two he married my grandmother when he came up to Montana.
