In this post, I share with you a great presentation that will help you get started in researching your ancestors. It is full of great information, recommendations, and tips.
Once a month I feature a presentation that is available on Las Villas del Norte (the official premium genealogy group for our Mexican genealogy community). These presentations have a focus on researching Mexico or are about methodology that can be applied to researching our Mexican and Spanish Colonial Ancestry.
This month's presentation that I want to make you aware of is that of professional genealogist Dee Pavey and it is titled "Beginning Your Genealogical Journey".
The summary of the presentation is: "This presentation helps the beginner to get started in genealogy, even if they know little about it. Topics discussed are: What to do first, genealogy programs, documents, photographs, searching online and off, and putting it all together."
This presentation provides a great wealth of knowledge on how to get started in researching your ancestors.
The following topics are discussed:
- Getting Started
- Keeping Track of Your Research
- Genealogy Programs
- Getting Organized
- Searching for Records
- Searching Tips
- and more...
