Testamentos and Autos de Bienes De Difuntos Zacatecas 1550 - 1604
Last Names of Nuevo Leon

The book Testamentos and Autos de Bienes De Difuntos Zacatecas 1550-1604 provides genealogical and historical information and will be of interest to anyone with roots in Northern Mexico.

This book provides great information about historical events and laws that affected how the Wills and property of our ancestors was handled by the Spanish authorities. Not to mention it provides many transcriptions of wills and testimony of property of some of the earliest settlers of Zacatecas.

These wills and testimony book contain valuable information about the mining culture, contradictions between colonial society and the indigenous nomads, the creation of the mining economy and the ranching industry. It is a great source to study the private life of our ancestors in Zacatecas.

Unfortunately the book is in Spanish only and I could not find an English version of it. The good news is that I found it online and it is hosted by the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico.
