The Descendants of Christopher Columbus
Last Names of Nuevo Leon

In this post, you will find an eBook in Spanish about the descendants of Christopher Columbus. It was written by Rafael Nieto y Cortadellas in La Habana, Cuba back in 1952.

The title of the book is "Los Descendites de Cristobal Colon" and below you will find a link to it.

I first believed that he had no descendants in Mexico, but during one of the monthly meetings for Las Villas del Norte someone brought it up. I can't remember the name of the lady that told me that she was a descendant of Christopher Columbus.

This piqued my interest but not enought to go on searching. Later on I came across a reference to Diego Colon, son of Cristopher Columbus, in one of the books of "Historia Genealogica".

Now I was interested in finding out more about his descendants that he may had that remained in Mexico.

Assuming that by this time, someone out there might have had already done the research, I went searching for published genealogies. I came across the book "Los Descendientes de Cristobal Colon".

I imediatly liked it and saw that it was more reliable than some trees published online for the sole reason that the author provides as to where he got the information from.

To be honest I have yet to fully research his descendants but off the bat the book had some on what used to be la Nueva Vizcaya and Nueva Galicia located in Northern Mexico.

As you may know my area of research is Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, and South Texas. Some of the first settlers of this area that had roots from Nueva Vizcaya and Nueva Galicia and or where military men from those provinces.

The main reason that I am sharing this ebook with you is because it is a genealogy book, it mentions Mexico over 118 times, and his descendants tie in to many other early families of Spanish colonial Mexico.

Finally, it may be a book that could help you find more of your own ancestors.
