While conducting research on my ancestor Alonso de Sosa I came across a book that helped me find more of his ancestors. The name of the book is "Descripcion Genealogica y Historial de al Ilustre Casa de Sousa". In English it translates to "Description Genealogical and Historical of the illustrious house of Sousa".
Sousa is Portuguese for Sosa.
Just be warned, the book was written in 1770 and the citations are not what we are used to nowadays. The author does also states that the book is "Compiled from a Very Old Manuscript, and Corrected and Added Up to the Present".
What this means is that it the book was written well prior to 1770.
When it comes to my ancestor's particular section, the author found three genealogies and some names conflict each other. He provided all three and then he provides his own fixed version.
Still, it is a treasure for me since I now have more names to research and clues to hopefully find actual records supporting the ancestral lines.
